The Memphis Flyer published an article titled “American Dreamers,” highlighting the struggle and triumph local Latino teens face and the impact of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) on post-secondary education. While Tennessee requires DACA to pay out-of-state tuition costs, Christian Brothers University provides DACA students who graduate from area high schools an opportunity to attend CBU at a reduced cost. Importantly, the upcoming Tennessee legislative session in Nashville offers the chance to pass a tuition equality bill in Tennessee that would allow DACA recipients to pay in-state tuition rates.
